Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Why this verse is important to Tony:
I am a partner in a small company and when times are slow will hear myself praying to God that he would bring people and businesses to our door that we can bless through the services we offer. I cannot tell you the number of times that He has honored that prayer – which in turn has allowed us as business owners to bless those working for us with creative and fulfilling projects.
Sarah Young in her devotional Jesus Calling writes a lot about inviting God to be part of our day, but not just part of our day, all parts of our day. To see the opportunity in every challenge, and the beauty in all things created. There is a huge gap between what we can do and what God can accomplish through us, but if we invite Him to be part of our day He will give us the desires our heart. Difficulties, Sarah states, are just opportunities to trust God even more. Doing the right thing is not always the easiest – but will be the best in the long run. Even as I start to understand and pray for this, it is amazing to me each morning as I realize how much of the previous day was on my own because I forgot to include Him. I am thoroughly convinced that God has a plan for our lives but the only way we will ever see it is to trust in Him, seek Him and follow Him. If we don’t beg God to continually reveal His will for our lives, we will continue to be caught in the curse. I choose your will Lord!
