“When the Lord your God brings you into the land he swore to your father, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you – a land with large flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not did and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant – then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the Lord”. – Deuteronomy 6:10-12
Why this verse is important to Roy:
This scripture for me sends a loving reminder that we showed up in this world with nothing. Everything is provided and we are blessed to have everything we have. More specific, when I walk into my house and look at all the good things, I did not provide. My house, vehicles, food, lights, water but most notably, my wife and children. I have to remind myself that they are not mine and belong to the Lord. I have been blessed with a wife that loves me and children that are healthy and happy. It can sometimes be very easy to come home and start giving out my lists of what should have been done. It is then I have to stop and remind myself I am the caretaker of my family. Put on this earth for a short time to experience God’s blessings. I should also be very careful having all I have and a house filled with all kinds of good things that it is then, I do not forget the Lord.
